4-H First Aid School Enrichment is offered to the 5th grade classes. These classes are normally offered after the first of the year and taught by local first responders, Rescue Squad members and EMS personnel. Subject matter covered in the First Aid program includes:
- When an emergency happens
- How to call for help
- Wound, Burns and Bandaging
- Poisons, Bites ad Stings
- Choking, Vomiting, Fainting and Seizures
- Broken Bones, Sprains, Dislocations, Rescue and Movement of the Injured
Each child is supplied with a project book and certificate. The volunteer instructors will provide at least six hours of hands on learning experiences with the teachers providing some preliminary groundwork with the students and some follow-up to help the students process the information for future use. Children can make a family first aid kit if they desire.
