4-H Green Thumbs Up!

Spring will soon be here, so get ready to break

out your gardening skills and tools as our first

 4-H Mini Garden contest gets under way.  The theme

for the 2010 garden contest is “Green Thumbs UP!”  Participants will learn about some simple methods to garden at the training session on Tuesday, March 30, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Yancey Extension Office.  We will cover the basics of the mini garden process, from soil sampling, planting, harvesting, then time to ask questions.

This “green” opportunity is open to any youth between the ages of 5 and 19.  All participants must attend the mini garden training on March 30.  Participants will receive all training information packets and materials at the end of the training. Registration deadline is Monday, March 22.  No participants will be allowed to register after this date.

Contest fee:  $10.00 for each participant.

Fee includes:  workshop information packet and materials.
