Have you ever wanted to learn how to propagate by grafting? Do you have an old apple tree/variety that you would like to perpetuate? This hands-on workshop will show you the common techniques for grafting and budding. While the workshop primarily focuses on apple tree grafting, the methods and techniques taught can be applied to a number of other plants. There is a small cost of $10 for this workshop; however, you will leave with two trees that you grafted yourself. Semi-dwarf apple rootstock will be provided as well as a variety of different apple varieties (scionwood) and the supplies needed for grafting. Participants are encouraged to bring their own scionwood if they have a particular apple or variety they would like to graft. Participants can purchase additional rootstock at the workshop if desired. For more information or to register, please contact the Yancey County Cooperative Extension Center at 682-6186.
