N.C. Cooperative Extension, Mitchell County Center will be hosting a Potato Variety Field Day on Tuesday evening, August 28.  The field day will begin at 4:00 p.m. and will be held across from Dollar General in the Buladean community. The physical address is 12144 North Highway 226, Bakersville, NC. The field day agenda is below and the field day has been approved for two (2) hours of pesticide recertification credit in categories D, N, O, & X. This is a great opportunity to pick up the X category recertification credit that you need for your private pesticide license recertification.

NC State Universities, Potato Breeding and Genetics Program, Research and Extension Associate, Mark Clough will be on hand at the field day to discuss new potato varieties and how they breed new varieties. He will also be discussing what markets are looking for in potatoes and how we can grow potatoes to meet these market demands. Other topics to be covered include weed, disease and insect control in potatoes.
