Small Farms Week is an annual event presented by North Carolina A&T State University. This event is a tribute to small scale agriculture in North Carolina. The 35th annual Small Farms Week begins on March 21, 2021, and this year we will be holding a poster contest! This year’s topic is “Raising Awareness to the Importance of Small, Local Farmers.” The competition is open to all 4-H’ers in Yancey County.
Requirements: All participants must be a member of Yancey County 4-H in order to participate. All posters must be completed by the 4-H’er, hand-drawn on one sheet of poster board.
Submissions will be divided into three age categories (5-8, 9-12 & 13-18). Posters will be judged on content (35 points), visual appearance (35 points) and originality/creativity (30 points). Prizes will be awarded to the top two youth from each age category. 4-H’ers should include their name and age on their poster.
Posters should be turned in to the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Yancey County office. Submissions are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 19. Contact Jordan English, 4-H Agent for more information!
