The Clark Family

Ryan and Jamie Clark of Clark Family Farms are first generation farmers from the Dodgetown community of Stokes County. They reside there with their two young children, Colton and Paisley. The Clarks have a shared passion for agriculture which began years ago in their families tobacco fields of Rockingham County. Ryan and Jamie married in 2009, and not long after that decided to embark on their own farming journey. While they both worked full-time jobs, they put in the long hours to grow their beginning operation. They began with five bottle calves in their backyard in Madison. Over the years, their operation continued to grow, and in 2016 they purchased their farm and constructed four breeder hen houses. The Clarks currently house 50,000 chickens for Mountaire Farms. They’ve grown their cattle operation to a herd of 60 cow/calf pairs. They also farm around 500 acres of pasture and hay land across western Rockingham and eastern Stokes Counties. The Clarks produce hay for personal use and retail sale. In 2018, they decided to add fruit and vegetable production to their farm. They currently produce around 4 acres of produce for retail and wholesale markets.

Ryan is currently employed full-time on the farm, and Jamie is employed full-time by Stokes County Government. The Clarks spend much of their time volunteering in the community. Ryan is the president of the Rockingham County Cattlemen’s Association, executive vice president of the North Carolina Cattlemen’s Association, and also serves as secretary/treasurer for the Stokes County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. Ryan also currently represents the Southeastern United States on the American Farm Bureau Livestock Working Group. Ryan has been a volunteer fireman for 17 years and is serving as Lieutenant for Northeast Stokes Volunteer Fire Department. Aside from working full-time, Jamie holds many volunteer positions in Stokes and Rockingham. She is the chairperson of the Stokes-Rockingham Young Farmers and Ranchers, a board of directors member of Rockingham County Farm Bureau, and PTA volunteer at Sandy Ridge Elementary.

The Clarks were recipients of the North Carolina Farm Bureau Excellence in Agriculture award in 2016, as well as the North Carolina Farm Bureau Achievement Award winners in 2021 for their involvement in agriculture on both local and state levels.

As a family, the Clarks enjoy spending time with friends and family, riding four wheelers, target practicing, and family vacations to the mountains and beaches of North Carolina.
