Yancey County 4-H Summer Camps
Summer 2021 is quickly approaching and Yancey County 4-H is excited to announce that we will be hosting several summer day camps for Yancey County 4-H’ers! All camps all restricted to a limited number of participants due to COVID-19 guidelines and participants must be a 4-H member. Not a member? Signing up is free and easy, see the link at the bottom!

Local Agriculture Camp – Youth ages 5-13 will visit four local farms, learning about agriculture in Yancey County. From Livestock, to Horticulture, to Christmas Trees, youth will talk to local farmers, tour their farms and learn all about how they contribute to the agricultural community in Yancey County! July 19–22, 9 a.m.–noon. Cost: $35 per child
Adulting 101 Workshop Series – Youth ages 14-18 will receive a “crash course” in all things involving being an adult. Topics covered will include meal planning, cooking, budgeting and finances (banking, taxes, credit), insurance, home maintenance (changing air and water filters, how to use a fire extinguisher), car maintenance (changing a tire, changing oil), and workforce readiness (how to make a resume, applying for a job, acing an interview) and applying for scholarships! June 16 & 23, July 7 & 14, 1–4 p.m. Location: N.C. Cooperative Extension of Yancey County. Cost: Free!
Stitching & Stirring: 4-H Cooking & Sewing Camp – Youth ages 8-18 will learn basic cooking techniques & kitchen safety, how to prepare healthy meals, and the basics of sewing through creating their own kitchen-themed creations (apron, pot holder, etc.). June 28–July 2. 9 a.m.–noon daily. Snacks provided. Location: N.C. Cooperative Extension of Yancey County. Cost: $50 per child
Outdoor Adventures Camp- Youth ages 8-13 will experience several days of fun outdoor adventures including hiking, fishing, and learning more about the environment! Camp will involve several field trips to attractions in the county. July 26–28, 9 a.m.–noon. Cost: $50 per child
4-H Cloverbud Sewing Camp- Youth ages 5-7 will participate in a two-day mini-camp (June 14 & 15 OR June 17 & 18) from 10 a.m.–noon. During the camp, youth will make their own pillow. Supplies and snacks provided. Location: Quilt N Code. Cost: $25 per child
