2022 Summer Fun Programs

 

Farm to Fork Camp

  • Monday, June 13th-Wednesday, June 15th
  • 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
  • Yancey County Cooperative Extension & Reconciliation House
  • Join us for a day camp where participants will visit local farms and meet with agricultural experts each morning, followed by an afternoon of learning food safety and culinary skills. Youth will prepare their own lunches each day.
  • Young chefs will learn about kitchen safety, essential cooking techniques, nutrition, food safety and more!
  • Ages 11-18
  • Cost: $60

Showmanship Camp

  • Tuesday, July 26th – Thursday, July 28th
  • 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • In this camp, youth will get a hands-on learning experience, learning showmanship techniques for multiple livestock species, including Beef, Sheep, Goat and Swine.
  • Ages: 7-18
  • Cost: $10

Cloverbud Camp

  • Monday, June 27th – Thursday, June 30th
  • 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Yancey County Cooperative Extension
  • Open specifically to 4-H Cloverbuds (ages 5-8) youth will explore a variety of topics in this camp, including: cooking, nature, arts & crafts, science, and more! Snacks will be provided each day.
  • Ages 5-8
  • Cost: $40

4-H Residential Summer Camp

  • June 19-24, 2022
  • Betsy Jeff Penn 4-H Camp (Reidsville, NC- transportation provided)
  • Ages: 8-12
  • Youth can look forward to a week of making new friends, swimming, horseback riding, archery, canoeing, rock climbing, games, campfires, sleeping in cabins, and much more!
  • The 4-H Camp tuition is $500, which is all-inclusive of your child’s six-day experience at an accredited camping center. Full and partial scholarships are available through Yancey County 4-H. Contact Jordan for more information.

Outdoor Adventures Camp

  • Monday, August 8th- Wednesday, August 10th
  • 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Yancey County Cooperative Extension
  • Youth will explore all things outdoors! Each day youth will travel to a new adventure, including hiking, caving, fishing, and more!
  • Ages 8-18
  • Cost: $60

Electric Workshop

  • Wednesday, July 6th
  • 1-3 p.m.
  • Ages: 12-18
  • Yancey County Cooperative Extension
  • Learn all about the magic of electricity while completing hands-on projects like creating circuits, soldering and more!
  • Cost: $5

Robotics Workshop

  • Thursday, July 7th
  • 1-3 p.m.
  • Ages: 8-18
  • Yancey County Cooperative Extension
  • Learn all about the basics of coding while programming your own robot!
  • Cost: $5

Horse Workshop- Juniors

  • Tuesday, June 7th
  • 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Ages: 5-9
  • Yancey County Cooperative Extension
  • Learn all about the basics of horses, including grooming, tacking and riding!
  • Cost: $50
  • Lunch provided

Horse Workshop- Seniors

  • Wednesday, June 8th
  • 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Ages: 10 and up
  • Yancey County Cooperative Extension
  • Learn all about the basics of horses, including grooming, tacking and riding!
  • Cost: $50
