The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that each year, 1 in 6 Americans get sick from contaminated food or beverages, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die from foodborne illnesses each year in the US. Every one of these illnesses is preventable by practicing safe food handling procedures. This isn’t limited to made-to-order dishes from restaurants and the servers handling those foods - everything from delivery arrivals to inventory, prep, and service. How do you make sure your employees are practicing the proper procedures? By taking the ServSafe food safety course.

N.C. Cooperative Extension, Yancey County Center will offer the ServSafe Food Safety Manager Course, on June 27th and 28th. This course is appropriate for food service owners, operators, managers, supervisors, and food handlers. The primary focus of this training is to raise awareness of the importance of food safety and to make food safety training and education as accessible as possible.

The class material will be taught over the two days, and the exam will be on the afternoon of the 28th. Registration opens Friday, May 12th, and will close on June 5th at 5:00 pm. Due to having to order individual materials based on payment, no additional registrations will be allowed after June 5th. The N.C. Cooperative Extension, Yancey County Center must receive all payments by the close of business on June 5th. Cash, checks, and card payments via our Eventbrite platform will be accepted. Checks must be made to: Yancey County Cooperative Extension, with ServSafe in the memo line.
