The Egg-cellent Egg Contest is a fun competition for 4‐H members with a flock of chickens that are currently laying eggs. As part of the program, youth will submit up to 2 dozen eggs in different categories, which will be judged for uniformity, exterior and interior quality. Participants will also complete supplemental project components based on their age which is part of their final score.

Youth ages 8-18 with chickens are encouraged to participate in the Egg–cellent egg competition. Youth should:

  • Register for the competition
  • Pay a $15 registration fee (includes awards, and a t-shirt)
  • Watch the initial training, and the in-depth training (live or recorded)
  • Complete the educational, supplemental portion.
  • Submit 6 eggs for judging.
  • Watch the awards Zoom to celebrate their hard work

Important Dates

  • September 8 – Registration Ends
  • September 12 – 5:30 p.m. – Initial Training via Zoom – Zoom link will be sent before the training
  • September 22 – Registration fee is due
  • September 26 – Egg-citing, In Depth Egg Training- Zoom link will be sent before the training
  • November 3 – Eggs & supplemental portion submissions due
  • November 21 at 5:30 p.m. – Winners announced on Zoom
