Collapse ▲N.C. Cooperative Extension of Yancey County is now taking preorders for various plants and fruit trees to help you prepare for the upcoming planting season.
If you or someone you know would like to order plants this year, you can do so at the Yancey County Center during regular business hours (8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday). However, please check the website or anywhere local closings are posted during winter weather. Our office follows the same schedule as Yancey County Government offices.
You’ll need to pay in full when you place your order. You can also drop off or mail your form to N.C. Cooperative Extension, Yancey County Center, 30 E US Hwy 19E BYP, Burnsville, NC 28714, and include your payment. All checks should be payable to Yancey County Cooperative Extension.
All preorders must arrive by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14th, 2025. Plant pick-up will be at our office (next to Rio Mexican Cuisine). Pickup dates are set for Wednesday, April 9th, and Thursday, April 10th, during regular office hours. All plant orders must be picked up during this time unless you have arranged to do otherwise with the office.
Refunds will not be issued for unclaimed orders, so mark your calendar once you receive notice of the pickup dates. Supplies on several items are limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
This year, we have new heirloom apple tree varieties on our list, so be sure to check them out! They’re explained in a bit more detail in this two-page pdf: 2025 Apple Details.
The order form will be periodically updated to reflect any items that have sold out. If you are ordering late, check the latest form upload before submitting it.
