Collapse ▲N.C. Cooperative Extension of Yancey and Madison Counties, in collaboration with the Yancey County Cattlemen Association, will be offering a Master Cattlemen Program starting this fall. This program will feature classes focused on beef cattle production, and will be presented to cattle producers by N.C. Cooperative Extension Agents, Specialists, and Beef Industry Experts. There are currently 8 classes being planned which may include the following beef cattle production topics:
- Health
- Forage Management
- Nutrition
- Marketing and Profitability
- Beef Herd Reproductive Management
- Genetics/Understanding EPDs
- Knowing More About the Beef End Product
- Facilities, Animal Behavior & Beef Quality Assurance Practices
Classes will be held in conjunction with the regular meetings of the Yancey County Cattlemen Association. However, to get through all of the classes this fall and winter, they will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month beginning October 15. To help cover the cost of food, the program cost will be as follows:
- $60 per participant cost for those that are not members of the Yancey County Cattlemen Association which covers the cost to attend all 8 sessions.
- There is no cost to attend for members of the Yancey County Cattlemen Association that complete registration for the program.
- Registration will close Friday, October 11.
