Collapse ▲We would like to remind our beef, lamb, and goat producers that we have hay testing equipment available at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Yancey County Center. We will come out and help you take samples. Hay testing through NCDA only costs $10 per sample. Ration balancing recommendations with rations formulated based upon hay analysis are offered to producers at no cost.
Testing your hay is a great way to better understand its quality and nutritional value. Hay test results can be used to generate feeding plans that better allocate hay and feed resources. Ration balancing based upon hay test results can help balance out the quality of your hay with the most appropriate feed recommendations. Hay testing and ration balancing are a great way to cut unnecessary feeding expenses, or making sure that you are feeding livestock in a way that will help you best meet your production goals.
