Volunteer With 4-H
Volunteer Role Opportunities:

4-H Club Leader/Co-Leader: Provides overall leadership for a club, meeting once or twice a month to coordinate educational activities, service projects, and fundraising with youth and families. Time commitment: 5–10 hours per month.

4-H Project Leader: Teach a specific skill or project area (e.g., agriculture, cooking, STEM, animals). Short-term: 6+ hours over 4–6 weeks; Long-term: 5–10 hours/month.

4-H Activity Leader/Helper: Assist with club or county activities, special programs, or chaperoning events. Flexible, as needed.

Administrative/Managerial Volunteer: Support fundraising, events, social media, recruitment, or project judging. Flexible.

Advisory Council Member: Help guide and support the 4-H program with community leadership. four meetings per year; 1-3 year term.

- Contact the Yancey County Extension office to share your interest in becoming a 4-H volunteer and to learn about upcoming volunteer needs.
- Complete a 4-H Volunteer Application through 4HOnline 2.0.
- Complete the necessary background screening required by the 4-H program. Instructions will be provided to you after your application has been submitted.
- Participate in any orientation/training necessary for your volunteer role.
- Share your excitement, inspiration, compassion, and patience with the 4-H youth you will be reaching
**Please Note: All 4-H volunteers who work directly with youth in any unsupervised capacity (i.e., club leaders, chaperones, etc.) are required to complete and pass a background check and have a current Volunteer Application on file with their local 4-H office.
